The first issue of "Spooks," co-written by Larry Hama, has been racking up multiple strong reviews -- and Hama informs us that a "sort of sequel or spinoff called OMEGA TEAM" is already in the works.

An excerpt from the Comixtreme.com review:

... Hama (who supposedly crafted the military side of this story, with Salvatore responsible for the monsters) is the man who turned G.I. Joe from a generic plastic doll to an army of heroes and villains that still commands a loyal following today. If anyone can make the [Department of Supernatural Defense] interesting, it's him. And the cool factor - let's face it - is pretty high. I want to feel for the characters before this miniseries ends, but as a set-up issue, this is pretty good. Spooks isn't like any sort of supernatural combat comic you've read before, but if you dig that quite select subgenre, you'll dig this.

LatinoReview.com reports that Larry Hama "is coming aboard the G.I. Joe movie in some capacity, most likely as a creative consultant." Hama is a comics writer, screenwriter, and actor particularly beloved for his Marvel Comics work on "G.I. Joe" and "Wolverine." The LatinoReview.com article has a nice run down of his influence on the G.I. Joe franchise.
