Bumperboy


"Bumperboy" is a comic book series created by Debbie Huey. "Bumperboy and the Loud, Loud Mountain" made Booklist's 2007 list of Top 10 Graphic Novels for Youth. "Bumperboy Loses His Marbles" was a 2005 Xeric Award Winner. For more info, visit bumperboy.net.

sfexaminer-bboy-022108.jpgThe San Francisco Examiner has interviewed "Bumperboy" creator Debbie Huey about her career, her "Spotlight on Local Cartoonists" event on Saturday, and how to navigate this weekend's WonderCon. Here's Huey on her first convention experience:

"There were all these people making their own comics and actually selling them. Really unique, talented people that you could talk to that didn't have an attitude about being successful. I thought, 'I could do this.'"

Huey, an avid doodler with a fine arts degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, decided to finally take the plunge and forgo the intimidation she felt about writing stories for her sketchbook creations.
